Technical Illustration & Full Page Ad

The challenge was to create a lifelike technical vector illustration of an assigned electronic product, then build it into an original full-page advertisement with its own brand and creative concept. Inspired by the nostalgia of analog radio, I created Sonora around the idea of rediscovering music through tuning: “Turn the dial. Let the best songs find you.” Flowing graphics reference sound waves and reinforce the movement and rhythm of the concept.

Using photographic references to study the radio’s construction, materials and details, the product was illustrated entirely in Adobe Illustrator without image tracing. Gradient mesh, gradients, blends, transparency and layered effects were used to create dimensional form, metallic surfaces, reflections, shadows and fine details. The final illustration was incorporated into an original 10 × 13-inch full-page ad, with custom branding, typography and supporting vector graphics also developed in Illustrator.
Self Portrait

The self-portrait explored the translation of a photographic image into a stylized vector illustration while maintaining likeness, expression and dimension. The approach focused on interpreting light, shadow and contrast through shape and colour, using tonal variation to define facial structure, depth and the movement of the hair.

Working from an original photograph, I developed custom skin and hair colour palettes before building the portrait through layered vector shapes. Extensive Pen Tool work was used to define facial features, hair, highlights and shadows, balancing simplified forms with enough detail to maintain likeness and dimension.
